Vertical Response, Salesforce, Plone Subscription Managment
We can sell this service to our customers -- then then can allow their constituents to go to our page and manage subscriptions.
I envision a single plone site that could be configured by adding content items, one for each org, that would contain the information needed to connect to Salesforce and read/write subscription prefs. (the plone setup for each org would involve telling plone the salesforce id, password, and subscription checkbox field names)
The idea is just to add a checkbox for each type of subscription the Salesforce Contact page layout. Users will have to manually filter on that check box each time they use a VR campaign (or export a report) to send newsletters.
The trick is to provide a way for users to manage subscriptions -- without having to build this capability into each customer's website (which would be expensive for the customer). Instead, users can go to a page such as:
https://subscriptions.npowerseattle.org?oid=39393939&cid=393939393
and you get a page that's customized with the banner of the org
title says "Manage my ORGNAME subscriptions"
and there are checkboxes that show your current settings
users check or uncheck, and it gets saved back to SF
new users probably subscribe via web-to-lead, but this is the way they manage existing subscriptions
in every newsletter VR message, they should put "If you wish to change your newsletter subscriptions preferences, please click http://subscriptions.npowerseattle.org?oid=39393939&cid=393939393"
of course, VR will still show the Opt Out option. That one is GLOBAL, and it is not optional.
