Customer DNS Instructions For Launching A Plone Website

What to Tell Your Service Provider About Launching Your Site

Launching a website can be tricky, and to be safe, we prefer to make those changes or requests directly to the vendor that manages your services. Occasionally, we aren't able to get the permission we need. If that happens, here's what you tell your vendor:

  1. We have a brand new website that we'd like to make available to the public
  2. It is physically hosted at www.sixfeetup.com, on servers that NPower Seattle manages.
  3. We'd like to change our Domain Name Services to launch the site, and need you to make the following changes:
    1. Change the A record for our domain (for instance, yourdomainnamehere.org) to 74.203.223.195.
    2. Create an alias record that points www.yourdomainnamehere.org to yourdomainnamehere.org. (Some vendors call the alias record the @ record)
    3. Create a C Record (or C-Name or Chain) called stats.yourdomainnamehere.org and point it to yourdomainnamehere.org
  4. Things NOT to Do
    1. Don't change any mail records
    2. Don't change any other records
